“There are 1.6 million Canadians living with heart disease and stroke.”
“9 in 10 Canadians have at least one risk factor for heart disease and stroke.”
“Up to 80% of premature heart disease and stroke is preventable through lifestyle choices than can reduce key risk factors.”
The Heart and Stroke foundation of Canada is a source of information about stroke, heart disease, surgeries and treatments. This volunteer-based health charity leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living, and advocacy.
For Day 9 of UR Enough’s Twelve Days of Kindness, we are donating our time to help make a difference in our community and in the lives of Canadians. We will be joining the Heart and Stroke gift wrapping team today at RBC Plaza (200 Bay Street) in Toronto. Donations received from the gift wrapping will help to support their mission of preventing disease, saving lives and promoting recovery.
While the holiday season might be the perfect time to give back, we do believe in volunteering regularly to make a more meaningful impact and to gain a better understanding of our community. If you are in Toronto and looking for opportunities that make a positive difference within your community, we would recommend visiting Volunteer Toronto.
Stay tuned for Day 10 of UR Enough’s Twelve Days of Kindness. If you are challenging yourself by joining us to spread love and cheer this holiday season, remember to use the hashtag #UREnoughX12DaysofKindness.
